I Met You At the Blood Bank

15 01 2009

Here’s a nice a little aside from yesterday ā€“ This coming Tuesday, Bon Iver is releasing a follow-up EP to last years ridiculous debut For Emma, Forever Ago. Blood Bank is 4 song peace offering that’ll hopefully hold over fans until another full-length album (whenever the heck that might be…). On this lastest release, Justin Vernon opens up his musical toy box and tries out some new things – piano, slide guitar, AutoTune, among other things – while still staying true to the snow-covered melodies he’s known for. The EP also serves as a toe-in-the-water test to see how Bon Iver operates as a full band, without the haunting solitude that made the first album so compelling. The only drawback I can find is that its only 4 songs. Their streaming the whole thing from their Myspace page so check it out and let the Wisconsin lovefest play on.

And here’s a little dose of bonus video goodness – La Blogotheque’s live video of “Skinny Love”. Super nice.
